Abundant Life…Abundant Yoga!

As I scurried around this morning preparing for a full day of teaching. I shoved this blog to the back of my mind.  It caused me discomfort.  I do not like discomfort.  I feel completely ill-equipped to write…and especially about this!  I feel there are simply not enough words to capture all of it accurately.  I shot up a flare-prayer of “God, give me words” and rushed out the door, knowing that sitting down at the laptop was coming.  My youngest cracked open Jesus Calling for Kids as we drove down Mack Hatcher and announced today’s title, “Mommy, ‘God Never Runs Out!’”  He continued to read aloud to me Philippians 4:19: “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

My God is a God of plenty!

He never runs out of Love.
He never runs out of Peace.
He never runs out of Forgiveness.
He never runs out of Time.
He never runs out of Space.
He never runs out of Blessings.

And, that has been {be}yond true in this first year of {Be}yond Yoga.  He has never run out!  There has always been more than enough.

In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  Unlike a thief, the Lord Jesus comes to give, not to get.  He comes that people may have life in Him that is meaningful, purposeful, joyful, and eternal. We receive this gift of abundant life the moment we accept Him as our Savior.

This word “abundant” in the Greek is perisson, meaning “exceedingly, very highly, beyond measure, more, superfluous, a quantity so abundant as to be considerably more than what one would expect or anticipate.”  The apostle Paul tells us that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and He does it by His power, a power that is at work within us if we belong to Him (Ephesians 3:20).

{Be}yond Yoga was founded on three things – The Word, The Holy Spirit, and Prayer (thus, the goose in the circle) and our foundational scripture was:  “God is able to do far more ABUNDANTLY BEYOND all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” (Ephesians 3:20).   As our community grew and space was “running out”, OUR GOD never ran out!  In fact, He provided plenty!  As we MOVE into our new location June 1, 2017 and begin our second year, it seems fitting to carve out a new name for our new space.  …Our space of plenty!  …Our space of abundance!

Abundant Life is not about what we have.  It is not about what we get.  It is not about what we claim.  Ultimately, abundant life is about what we receive as a gift from the Lord and to live knowing we are stewards of the blessings of God.

As we seek to be good stewards of the space God has provided for our community to practice yoga, I see yoga in abundance – movement that is meaningful, poses that are purposeful, and a practice that is full.  At the end of the day, perhaps that is how we know we have an abundant life—when we practice abundance; when we have enough of the blessings of God (meaningful, purposeful, joyful, and eternal) to share with others, and then actually do it.  That’s when we truly have abundant life.  We are beyond excited to be able to share with you…Abundant Yoga!
